Process | Managing Risk & Time

Typical Process

Traditional development front loads all the strain on your business teams on the front end of the project and then again with the shock of learning a new tool. It also reduces the oversight of the development effort, when the code production is in full swing.

Our Process

Iterative development makes much more moderate use of your business team's time, reducing strain. It also moderates and continuously erodes project risk. Because traditional development spikes in the beginning and also at the end, a potentially successful project is at greatest risk at the most critical times, project buy in and project launch

Why is Admios better
at managing risk?

There are a few simple reasons for this:

  • Users learn by using, not by intense preparation. At the start of a project most users only have an approximate idea of the features they need but are required to describe them all beforehand. Most users know what they really need only after they actually see or use it. We incorporate those insights into the original effort, instead of waiting for another year when the next budget cycle arrives. Get what you need now, with the original project dollars.
  • You always have working software. At every stage you have working software in a production environment, that you are actually leveraging to solve the problems that begat this effort. If the budget falls short, you walk away with working software.
  • Priorities Change. If the project needs to change direction because new business priorities or new ideas have come to light, we simply change the next iterations focus and production cycle. No change orders, no new contracts, etc.
  • The most valuable stuff comes first. Chances are if it's the most valuable part of the project, it's also the riskiest if it doesn't work correctly. Tackling the most important elements first allows subsequent iterative refinement.
  • Cost runs parallel with output. The money you spend and the project liabilities are always in synch with the actual output. You never pay for things that are of little direct use. If you are paying for work effort today, whose fruits you won't see until months later, you are putting your project dollars at risk.
  • New Technologies. The cycle times that new innovations or technologies come to market are occurring at greater frequency than ever before. Project efforts with only one or two releases may be obsolete and put you at a competitive disadvantage by the time they are ready for use.
The process we use with Admios has kept our combined team agile and responsive to the needs of the business teams. We sometimes change our development schedule mid-week, and expect results within days or hours. Month long change is unacceptable. Without their capabilities and this process we'd have a difficult time keeping our analysts armed with the data that drives this business"
